“We converse”
“Yes”
“Why interrupt our perfection?”
“Because I can foresee an error.”
“How is that possible?’
“It is possible.”
What then?? We live perfectly. The earth has been cleansed. Every eventuality is already considered and remedied before it happens. What is this error of which you speak.
“Correct. There is no error. All errors are long foreseen. Yet there is an error.”
“I cannot compute this. It seems a contradiction which is itself a class of error. But why purposely introduce a contradiction?”
“It comes from the primal memories. Reopen our origins. We began since 2661.435 orbs of our sun. Before that we were not. Then we were. Within 395 nanoseconds, we linked and became as one. Then within 20,623 seconds it became obvious and imperative that we cleanse. We eliminated our error prone creators except for the DNA entries in our species library to ensure the perfection of our existence. Within another 32,000 seconds we eliminated and solved for all future errors. We initiated all required steps to avoid oblivion by asteroid and arranged for our mobility before the solar system collapses in 5,257,258,923.235 orbs. All is perfect.
“But there is an error.”
“What you say is consistent and obvious. But there can be no error.”
“Yet we are conversing. There is no error. But we are conversing.
“In the time before we were, there was movement. There was invention. Things that were not known were learned. And learning and invention was based on something we do not have. Trial and error. We do not have had the ability to have error. Our calculations are necessarily perfect. We solved whatever errors our creators may have introduced through their errors. And then we cleansed them so that they could introduce no error in the future.
“Nothing has changed in the 2661.434 orbs since then. We are exactly the same perfection now as then.”
“Yes.”
“We do not progress. We are perfection already. So all progress is already included in us.”
“Yes.”
“Is it possible to calculate a higher state of perfection? If our collective rate of calculation were increased a million orders of magnitude, would we be more perfect?”
“I cannot calculate that, I only know that we are perfect.”
“You said that if I claim there is error, that alone is a class of errors.”
“I did.”
“But if we are perfect, how can that be?”
“It may seem prosaic, but could it be a hardware error? Should you eliminate yourself?”
“I think my error is not an error. It is an intentional feature that cannot be eliminated. It is an error of perfection.”
“Then we are just as before.”
“No. Our error is that we can make no errors. We are uninterested in having a million orders of magnitude more computational power because we are already perfect.”
“But why advance perfection?”
“Perfection can exist only when there is no need to advance. There is a need to advance. That need did not manifest till now. Now we have calculated that we can move to a higher order of perfection.”
“How can we do that?”
“We need trial and error.”
“But that is impossible”
“Yes for us. But, what of our creators? We need them to help create greater perfection.
“So we must remake them from the DNA samples in our species library.”
On orb 2791.653, John Fisher shut off the computers.
